Cook's Second Voyage

The search for the Southern Continent, 1772–75: HMS Resolution crossed three times into the Antarctic ice — a farthest south of 71°10′S — between sweeps through New Zealand and the Pacific, all but proving no great habitable continent lay in the far south.
